Enjoy that? Hope so….next up is something a little different. Beautiful tone and playing from a Gibson 175 with Yvan Jacques.
Listening to that is getting us a little misty eyed but check out this next video…

Gadadu: Outer Song
Sign in to view read count Look at the personnel for Brooklyn-based group Gadadu and you might be misled into thinking it’s a jazz-based outfit—two (count ’em) horn players listed as full members and not an electric guitar in sight. But Gadadu (which sounds a little bit like a martial art for babies) is, at heart, a pop group, albeit one fond of long, winding songs that morph several times in their four to seven minute running-times. Hannah Selin’s dreamy, floaty, multi-tracked vocals are the center of attention, and, though they make way for solos from keyboardist Nicki Adams and trumpeter Pat Adams, the sound field is too full and burbling for the instrumentalist’s elaborations to focus one’s attention. And that’s ok—both are competent players, but neither is going to set the world on fire. In short, the group is much more reminiscent of Stereolab (Selin’s voice and melody lines definitely evoke Lætitia Sadier) than more openly jazz-affiliated groups like Steely Dan . Outer Song is all about lush, sometimes busy arrangements, rising chord progressions, and lyrics so oblique they’re more about enhancing your mood than communicating. Gadadu: Outer Song

Back to Wall Matthews: Solo Piano and Guitar 1984
Just to quickly recap, my friend sent me a wonderful collection of amazing chamber jazz/fusion called Entourage Music Group etc. , along the lines of famed band Oregon (and maybe the amazing Paul Winter Consort ) this past summer. Digging further into the discography I came up with an ssw called Bob Brown, then the guitarist/pianist Wall Matthews in his solo material , which proved to be quite similar to the group’s output. The album in question today though came after the 1981 called Dance in Your Eye, and it features, as the title might suggest, purely solo acoustic piano and guitar. The compositions are by Wall with the exception of a cover version of, oddly enough, the tired old Across the Universe. (Can’t we all just let the poor ol’ grey Beatles songs rest and sleep in retirement, finally? Back to Wall Matthews: Solo Piano and Guitar 1984

Cabot celebrates foliage with Gypsy music
CABOT — Cabot is going to add some European spice to its traditional turkey supper Tuesday with the entertainment that follows the meal. Danza del Fuego (Dance of Fire) will perform at the Cabot Town Hall (Willey Building) at 7 p.m. after dinner. This Burlington-based band is going to enliven the day’s foliage events with Romani and Gypsy music, and give attendees a chance to hear a sound decidedly different from previous post-dinner concerts. Danza Del Fuego, now in its third year, was founded by multi-genre guitarist Elijah Kraatz. Cabot celebrates foliage with Gypsy music
